A Statesboro man is dead after a shooting this morning officials say.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. today, shots were fired at 315 Rackley Street, where Statesboro Police Department (SPD) officers were already on scene assisting with a code enforcement issue.

“No officers were injured during the shooting,” Officer Justin Samples, community relations officer with the SPD, said.

The alleged shooter, George Pryor, 61, is deceased.

The case is currently under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and  SPD will release more information as the case progresses, Samples said.

Samples said, “It was an unfortunate incident.”
