Georgia Southern University ranked in the 2014 Best Online Programs by “U.S. News & World Report” for four of its online education programs.

GSU ranked 15th in best online graduate computer information technology programs, 21st in best online graduate education programs, 34th in best online graduate business programs and 105th in best online bachelor’s program.

“U.S. News” evaluated almost 860 online programs across the country for student engagement, faculty credentials, peer reputation and student services, according to a news release.

“U.S. News” defines an online distance education program as an online course for students that are separate from the instructor yet still provide interaction between students and faculty.

Tom Koballa, dean of the College of Education, said in the news release, “The ranking is just one indication of our commitment to the College of Education’s online graduate programs and our work to continuously improve and expand the options available to best serve our students, many of whom are already working within the state’s educational system.”
