Wolfes earns Player of the Week

Georgia Southern University sophomore Scott Wolfes has been named the Southern Conference player of the week today for the second time this season.

“I would say it means I’m playing consistent and at a high level,” Wolfes said. “I put myself in contention and played solid.”

Wolfes consistent play has him one top-10 finish away from the double-digit mark for his career at GSU, and this weekend he became the first Eagle since 2008 to place in the top five of the Schenkel Invitational. His efforts led the team to a sixth-place finish over the weekend.

His sixth top-five finish of the season was against seven teams in the top 50, over 16 golfers in GolfWeeks Top-100, and an opponent who has already qualified for the Masters Tournament.

Wolfes was the first Player of the Week of the spring season this year, after he earned a second place finish at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, SC.

Wolfes and the Eagles hope to keep up the good work after a long break before the Gary Koch Intercollegiate April 8-9 in Tampa, Fla.
