Seven runs in the seventh inning propelled the Georgia Southern University baseball team to a 9-3 win over Xavier University, winning the weekend series 2-1.

Junior third basemen Ben Morgan and senior first basemen T.D. Davis cross home plate and the Eagles went up 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning.

The Musketeers battled back and scored two runs in the fifth inning and an RBI single from Vinny Nittoli put them up 3-2.

GSU went through three pitchers and scored seven runs in the seventh inning to take a 9-3 lead over the Musketeers.

Freshman pitcher Evan Challenger who came on to pitch for GSU in the seventh inning did not allow any runs and picked up the win (1-1).

On Tuesday at 6 p.m. the Eagles will travel to play one game at Kennesaw State University.
