Work on the electrical systems at the Bishop Alumni Center will require all electricity to the Center to be shut down at 2:00 p.m. this Friday, October 5, 2012.

The Alumni Center will resume normal operating hours at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012, according to a press release written by Wendell Tompkins, Jr., Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving.

“They’ve got to do some repairs, add some electrical panels in the back, and since the building is on the physical plant grid, they have to take it off the system to make the changes. We have to add a panel in the back, and we have to cut off the power to do that,” Tompkins said.

“We tried to work out the best time possible for the staff and people that use university advancement,” Tompkins said.

The Bishop Alumni Center offers a variety of services such as university advancement, alumni relations, annual giving, accounting for the Georgia Southern University Foundation, it houses the office of the vice president for advancement, development work, corporate and foundation relations, and it cultivates fundraising in support of the university, Tompkins said.
