GSU Young Democrats to host VP debate party

The Young Democrats of Georgia Southern University will host a Vice Presidential Debate viewing party tomorrow starting at 8:30 p.m. at Norton Center for the Arts.

The event will be will be laid back with food and drinks to compliment the viewing, Marc Sliver, chair member of Young Democrats of GSU and senior double major in economics and political science, said.

“The debate will hold very entertaining aspects, so it will be a lot of fun to kick back and relax while watching the debate,” Silver said.

Silver encourages students to look into the club regardless of their political views.

“Students can come check it out regardless of their political stance. The political organizations on campus seem to get along,” Silver said.

The debate will feature Joe Biden, vice presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, and Paul Ryan, the opposing candidate for the Republican Party.

During this debate the vice presidential candidates will discuss several issues. The debate is structured into nine time segments of 10 minutes each. Once a question is presented, each candidate will receive two minutes in which to answer, leaving six minutes open to discussion on the question.

This vice presidential debate will lead into the second presidential debate which will be aired Oct. 16 starting at 9 p.m.
