10 date ideas for broke college students

Jenna Wiley

It’s easier than one would think to have a great date for a low cost, so here are a few ideas to spark your creativity to impress that special someone.

Go stargazing in Sweetheart Circle

After stargazing in the famous sweetheart circle, you might as well walk around the circle three times to seal the deal!

Plan a picnic

This one might be better suited for the springtime, but a good old fashioned picnic in the park never fails.

Be a tourist in your own town

Statesboro has some amazing hidden gems to explore, such as the Georgia Southern Botanic Gardens or the S&S Greenway for an evening walk.

Attend Trivia Night at local bars

A great option for our 21 and up couples would be a bit of friendly competition at a local bar’s trivia night.

Watch the sunrise/sunset

One of the best spots to watch the sunsets in Statesboro is from Paulson Stadium, but I legally cannot recommend trespassing.

Bake each others favorite treats

Satisfy both of your sweet tooths by baking each other’s favorite treat, and the first one to burn the cookies buys dinner.

Romantic scavenger hunt

This one will require a fair amount of more effort than the others, so be prepared to work a little. Place clues in significant places around campus or your town, like the place you first met or had your first kiss.

Ice Skating

During December and January, the Savannah Civic Center opens up an annual ice skating rink, and it would make for a picture perfect date idea.

Attend the County Fair

Every girl dreams of getting that perfect kiss on top of the Ferris Wheel, so go together on College Student night to save some cash.

Show some school spirit

Football season is well underway in Statesboro, and students get in free to all sporting events. It’s the perfect date to show that you love GS and your significant other.

Getting that perfect date night while in college doesn’t have to empty your wallet. Try one of these options and your significant other is sure to be impressed.
