After defeating Fresno State in a double overtime thriller, Head Coach P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers prepare to welcome Georgia Southern to TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday. Coach Fleck took to the podium for a Wednesday morning press conference.

Here are the highlights:

On the win against Fresno State

“Really proud of our players on the game they won this past Saturday into Sunday. I think our team showed a lot of courage, showed the character and the culture. They found a way to win. That’s a very good football team. Last year they finished the season 18th in the country. It’s a very tough place to place.”

On non-conference games this season

“Are non-conference opponents are 32 and 8. We said at the beginning of the year that there are going to be no easy non-conference games. They’re all really good. They’re all champions. They all know how to win.”

On hosting Georgia Southern

“We got a really good opponent coming into TCF Bank Stadium. I have a lot of history with them in terms of playing against them when I was at Western Michigan University. They’re a very good football team, very well coached, and they athletes everywhere. They’ve won the Sun Belt in the last few years.”

On defending Georgia Southern

“They do a lot of things to get the ball on the perimeter quickly. They got some skill and they got athletes and they want to get the ball on the perimeter now. They’re also doing a good job of getting the ball inside. They have athletes everywhere and that makes them really dangerous.”
