STATESBORO — Georgia Southern Theatre will be hosting auditions in the Center for Art and Theatre for Jesus Christ Superstar on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. for singing and acting, and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for dance.

If people are interested in auditioning, they can sign up for an audition slot at the box office in the Center for Art and Theatre. Those audition slots are available from noon until three on Saturday.

“They need to be in clothes that they can move in and come willing to try to do whatever they can do in terms of moving their body,” Lisa Abbott, professor of theatre said.

Students who want to audition need to bring 32 bars of music prepared from Jesus Christ Superstar or in the same style as the hit Broadway musical along with sheet music so that accompanists can follow along. Auditioners also need to bring a 30 second dramatic monologue prepared, although they can read it off a script.

After the singing and acting auditions, all auditioners will be required to participate in dance auditions starting at 4 p.m.

Abbott is looking for musicians as well.

“We are also looking for drummers, bassists and guitarist, and those additions are going to be Sunday at two o’clock in the Center for Art and Theatre,” Abbott said. “They just need to show up, ready to play some music.”

Jesus Christ Superstar premieres on Feb. 27, and runs through March 1. Rehearsals will start at the end of October.

Performances will take place in the Performing Arts Center at 847 Plant Drive next to the Nessmith Lane Center.

Jesus Christ Superstar is not the only performance at the PAC this year. More information about theatre performances here
