American Idol coming to Macon

MACON — Aspiring singers in Georgia will have the opportunity to audition for American Idol this coming August.

On Friday, Aug. 23, American Idol will be giving Georgians the chance to chase their dream of becoming a superstar in Macon. 

First airing in 2002, American Idol is an American singing competition that airs as a television series on ABC. Many singers like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Scotty McCreery have started their careers on the show.

Contestants must be 15-28 years of age and a legal US citizen and anyone who is interested in auditioning can register here. 

The Middle Georgia auditions will be held at the Macon City Auditorium. Registration times have not been released yet. More information will be provided on the American Idol auditions page

Auditions will also be hosted in Mobile, Alabama, Tallahassee, Florida, Columbia, South Carolina, Knoxville, Tennessee and Raleigh, North Carolina.
