The National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE) is outside the Rotunda today until 2 p.m. with two desks, donated by a member’s grandma, that you can hit with a sledge hammer for only $1.

The purpose of this event is to get some stress relief from midterms. The money they raise will be going towards their trip to Anaheim, California for NSBE’s national convention. This convention will provide a chance for its members to ‘Re-imagine their Future.’

NSBE is a national organization that welcomes all STEM majors to join. Their mission is to “increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community,” according to the NSBE website.

Their members have opportunities such as leadership development, scholarships and grants, job opportunities and internships, and discounts on textbooks and other school related necessities.

The organization meets every other Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Chemistry building in the small lecture halls.
