STATESBORO — Tonight, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden will face off in the first presidential debate of the 2020 election. The George-Anne asked students if they will be watching the debate this evening, many unaware about the event before being asked.

Monique Edwards: “YES, My public speaking professor wants us to watch as an extra-credit opportunity and aside from that I believe that it would be a great experience for me to get to know what the candidates think.

Amina Sarr: “YES, I plan on possibly stopping in and hearing maybe 30-45 minutes because they do run long, just to solidify my voting stance… I feel like for most people, this late in the game, since the election is in November, they already know what candidate they’re voting for.”

Sam Welch: “YES, I’m interested in hearing both of the candidates.”

James Sasser: “YES, I’m interested to see if Joe Biden will make it all the way through and what their policies are against each other.”

Dusty Cowart: “YES, I feel like I need to get a little more information out of Biden and Trump… [My mind] is mostly made up. I just want to see what Biden’s arguments are.”

Victoria Versteegh: “YES, You should know both sides of the candidates that are running.”

Elizabeth Carrizo: “NO, I just really don’t know a lot about politics and I don’t really care for it.”
