Sentient presents Young Valley

By Nancy V. Smith, Staff Writer

Young Valley, a band of twin brothers and friends, treated attendees at The Sentient Bean to a night of country and folk music on Sept. 6.

The band hails from Jackson, Mississippi and stopped in Savannah as part of their month-long tour. The four members: twins Zach and Dylan Lovett, Chris Hassler, and Spencer Thomas, started with Zach, Spencer and a third member under the name Dandy & The Lions.

Finding little success, Zach and Spencer returned to their home town where they were joined by Zachs brother Dylan and Chris Hassler. New band members brought with them new ideas and sound. While Dandy & the Lions had more of a folk sound, Young Valley has country roots with alternative aspects. Band leader, Zach Lovett, currently writes all of the group’s songs.

The band’s enthusiasm and tenacity was visible throughout their show and they very much enjoy performing. One audience member, Cora Registre said, they are the definition of country music, while another, Jazmine Wilson, noted that the lead singer is really passionate which made the show interesting.

Young Valley not only puts on a great show, but they also know how to win fans and leave their audiences with a memorable performance. Their music is available on iTunes and Spotify. To connect with the band, follow them on Twitter @young_valley and Instagram @themvalleyboys.
