A Georgia Southern student shot and made a half-court shot during halftime of GS’ men’s basketball victory over Arkansas-Little Rock, winning a free TV in the process.

JoJo Daniels, a senior sports management major signed up to attempt the shot through Georgia Southern Athletics’ Facebook page. The promotion to give away a Vizio Smart TV was a partnership  with 111 South Apartments.

Leading up to the day, Daniels went to the RAC to practice the shot. The result of more than 10 practice shots? Glory.

“I couldn’t believe I made it because before I was just making air balls before and I was just surprised,” Daniels said.

After making the shot, the crowd at Hanner Fieldhouse erupted and Daniels was filled with excitement. He rushed over to claim his prize, but not before taking pictures with the promotion team and his winnings.

Once he was back in the stands for the conclusion of the Eagles’ victory, Daniels entered his 15 minutes of fame.

“A lot of people asked me how I pulled it off,” Daniels said. “I told them ‘I just shot.’”
