The Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music at Georgia Southern will host the Galan Trio as part of its On the Verge new music concert series next Wednesday and Thursday.

The Galan Trio is a world-renowned piano trio based in Athens, Greece with a goal to modernize prominent pieces of musical literature with “Kinesis,” their project to explore the music of contemporary American composers through performances, lectures and masterclasses.

Both the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses will be part of the world premiere of “Kinesis.”

On Wednesday, the trio will rehearse and discuss the project with all students before their 7:30 concert on the Armstrong campus. On Thursday, music students will have ample opportunity to engage with the performers in a recording session and composition discussion at the Statesboro campus.

“‘On the Verge’ allows for performers to engage with students,” Martin Gendelman, an associate professor over Music Theory and Composition at Georgia Southern said. “It gives them the opportunity to learn, whether it be in masterclass, performance, or lecture.”

Wednesday’s concert will be held in the Fine Arts Auditorium of GS, Armstrong Campus. The show will be open to the public. General admission is $10.
