Enrollment Decline

What’s new: Georgia Southern’s fall ’22 enrollment declined after a summer that saw almost 9,000 applications go uncompleted.

“We had 8900 incomplete applications that either didn’t have a test score or were not engaging with us any further,” said Dr. Marrero.

The University System of Georgia has temporarily lifted the SAT and ACT requirement this year, but instituted a minimum GPA requirement.

“Our biggest competition has been the employment sector,” said Dr. Marrero. “You can get a job now for, you know, $35,40 or even $50,000 a year, and our most significant competition that I’ve ever had in my 27 years in higher education is the employment market.”
