The Georgia Southern University chapter of Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a homeless simulation at Sweetheart Circle on Thursday to educate participants on homelessness.

From 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. the event will allow students to experience the struggles of homelessness through activities and discussions, Ava Percell, Habitat for Humanity adviser, said in an email.

“It forces people to connect with the reality of homelessness and the struggles these people face on a daily basis through a number of activities and discussions during the evening, and then spending the night outside,” Percell said.

Percell said the simulation event will also raise awareness about Habitat for Humanity’s overall vision.

“Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live,” Percell said. “Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability and self reliance in partnership with people and families in need of a decent and affordable homes.”
