Sports Wrap-up: Georgia Southern back to back away games against both Texas State and Louisiana

Georgia Southern fell to both Texas State and Louisiana this past week making their record (12-11, 5-5). 

Against  Texas State, the Eagles finished the first half with a 6 point lead. The Eagles would give up the lead with 11 minutes left in the second half.

  • They came back to within 2 with 11 seconds left, but fell just short after a missed 3pt shot as time expired losing the game 67-70. 

Stats: 

  • Tyren Moore led all Eagles in points with 19 shooting 7/15
  • Andrei Savrasov finished with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal.
  • Jalen Finch scored 11 points shooting 4/7 from the field. He also had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. 

In their road game against Louisiana, the Eagles closed the first half out with a huge 49-30 lead.

  • It was a tail of two halves however because the Ragin Cajuns scored 64 points compared to the Eagles 38 in the second half. This was good enough for them to comeback and win 94-87.

Stats: 

  • Tyren Moore and Kaden Archie led the team in point with 16.
  • Moore shot a very efficient 70% from the field.
  • Jalen Finch followed up with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
  • Kamari Brown, Carlos Curry, and Derrick Harris Jr, all reached double digits in scoring for the Eagles.

What’s next: The Eagles will continue their 4 game road trip at Georgia State on Thursday, February 2nd. Tip-off starts at 7pm.
