Fall 2017 commencement ceremony moved to Hanner Fieldhouse

  • Hanner Fieldhouse will host Fall 2017 graduation due to potential rain on Friday.

Due to potential inclement weather on Friday, Fall 2017 commencement ceremony has been moved to Hanner Fieldhouse. The ceremony will be divided into three different ceremonies and it will be conducted as follows:

9 a.m. Ceremony – Candidates to report at 8 a.m.

  • Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies
  • College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • College of Science and Mathematics

11:30 a.m. Ceremony – Candidates to report at 10:30 a.m.

  • Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies
  • Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology
  • College of Health and Human Sciences

2 p.m. Ceremony – Candidates to report at 1 p.m.

  • Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies
  • College of Business Administration
  • College of Education

Guest tickets have been sent to students along with their name card. One ticket covers a total of four guest, so all four guest must arrive together. Each graduate is limited to four guests.

Students are asked to arrive at least one hour prior to their ceremony start time. Alternative viewing locations will be open at the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, Russell Union Theatre and the Performing Arts Center.

Commencement speaker, Adrian Peterson, will only be speaking at the 2 p.m. ceremony, according to Jennifer Wise, GS director of communications.

This will be the first time fall semester graduation will be held at Hanner Fieldhouse since Fall 2015. Fall 2016 graduation took place at Paulson Stadium after SGA and the university officially moved it there.
