The Statesboro City Council suspended the alcohol licenses of two Statesboro businesses for selling alcohol to an underaged person on two occasions.

Statesboro City Council had 12 businesses scheduled for hearings at their meeting on Tuesday morning. At this meeting, Food World on Fair Road and Time Saver at 301 N. Main St. both agreed to waive their hearings, and the council unanimously approved to suspend both establishment’s alcohol licenses for three days.

The suspension period begins on Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. and ends on Friday at midnight. The other 10 businesses were given warnings for having one recorded violation.

Statesboro Police Detective Lt. Rob Bryant told the council that an undercover, underaged informant bought alcohol successfully at the two businesses.
