The Vagina Monologues will be returning to the Russell Union ballroom on Georgia Southern University campus Wednesday night.

The vagina monologues were created from over 200 interviews with women in 1996.

“Since then she has conducted more interviews and has added new monologues to reflect a changing society. The Vagina Monologues gave birth to V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against all women and girls,” Courtney Burns, director of the show, said.

All proceeds for the event go to the Statesboro Regional Sexual Assault Center. Last year, they were able to raise $2,000 in total to help work towards the end of harassment, rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation and sex slavery. This will be the third year in which The Vagina Monologues have appeared on GS’ campus.

Vagina Monologues starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.georgiasouthern.edu/vmtickets. Tickets are $12 starting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday on the website and at the door.
