21 Year-Old Dead after Shooting Near Blue Room

21-year-old male died following the shots fired yesterday on Chandler Road early Sunday morning. 

What happened: Initial shots fired towards the Blue Room were fired by the now deceased male, around 1a.m. on Sunday on Chandler Road near the Blue Room. Statesboro Patrol officers began searching the area for evidence after hearing the gunshots and they located a male subject in a wooded area with a gunshot wound to the head.

After the 21-year-old male was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. He has since died from his gunshot wound. 

Evidence indicates that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. 

  • “No one at the Blue Room was injured but the building and a vehicle were found to have been damaged by gunfire,” Akins said in the release. 

Detectives have been confident since the beginning of this investigation that there is no further danger to the public, as stated in the media release from Statesboro Police Department.
