The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art is set to host an artist talk with artist and philosopher Nancy Bookhart on Wednesday.

Bookhart, an assistant professor of art at Paine College in Augusta, Georgia, lectures about the work of African-American contemporary painter Kara Walker, artists of the Harlem Renaissance and the relationship between ritual and repression.

“[Bookhart] is a very vibrant and dynamic speaker, so it should be quite a compelling talk,” said director of the BFSDoArt galleries and the visiting speaker program Jason Hoelscher .

For her talk, Bookhart will discuss the topic “Art and Anticipation in Revolutionary Times” as well as her work and career as a dual practitioner of art and philosophy.

The event will be about 45 minutes in length and will end with a 15-minute Q&A.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. in Art Building 2071 and is free to the public.
