Humane Society Silent Auction

The Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County is gearing up for an exciting event to raise funds for animal welfare initiatives. On May 4th, the organization will host a silent auction, offering a wide array of items to bid on, all for a great cause.

The silent auction, a beloved tradition for the Humane Society, will feature an assortment of items generously donated by local businesses and community members. From gift certificates to local restaurants and shops to unique handmade crafts and artwork, there will be something for everyone to bid on.

“It’s our largest fundraiser of the year, and we use the funds for rescue and spay/neuter. We also have a low-cost spay/neuter option, where we give out vouchers that only cost the pet owners $20, we pay the rest of the fee that goes with the local low-cost clinic, the snip clinic,” stated Carrie Mitchell of the Humane Society.

The funds raised from the silent auction will go directly towards supporting the Humane Society’s various programs and services, including, spaying and neutering initiatives and educational outreach programs. Some of the items being auctioned off are a handmade bench, gift baskets for Mother’s or Father’s Day, or designer purses.

In addition to the silent auction, attendees can look forward to enjoying refreshments, mingling with fellow animal lovers, and learning more about the Humane Society’s mission and impact in the community.

In case you are unaware of The Humane Society, they are a non-profit organization that has been saving animals in the community since the 80s. Their mission is to end pet overpopulation in the community through adoption, spay and neuter, and education. Their ultimate goal is to make Bulloch County a “no-kill” community.

Mitchell also said, “Our overall mission is to end the homeless pet population, just really terrible in Southeast Georgia. The Humane Society has been here for over 40 years, and we’ve been saving thousands of cats and dogs, but there are thousands more out there that we can’t save. So, we’re promoting of course spay/neuter.”

The silent auction will take place on May 4th at The Foxhall on 81 S College St, starting at 6 PM. Admission is $20, and all are welcome to attend and bid on items.
