Swim The Sunbelt event begins at RAC

Campus Recreational & Intramurals (CRI) encourages participants to head to the RAC on Monday, Oct. 2 to swim a length correlating with the football team’s performance.

This year, CRI is running its incentive program called “Swim The Sunbelt.” Students will be swimming a given distance based on the performance of the Georgia Southern Football team’s performance in their previous game. According to the Georgia Southern University’s events page, participants will be swimming on team blue or team gold.

If the participant plans to swim on team gold, they will swim 1,000 yards per touchdown and swim the entirety of the football season will earn you a pair of CRI sunglasses and aquatics bag, according to the Georgia Southern University’s events page.

Participants can also swim on the blue team, which according to the Georgia Southern University’s events page, entails that participants will swim 100 yards per touchdown and swim the entirety of the football season will earn you a pair of CRI sunglasses. Additionally, participants will swim either 100 yards or 1,000 yards for every touchdown the Georgia Southern Football team scores in the previous game and throughout the season.

Potential participants can register to “Swim The Sunbelt” at Georgia Southern Member Services at no cost. Participants can notify a lifeguard at the RAC to record their distance. The mileage required for each week will be posted outside the Aquatics facility at the RAC each Monday during the duration of the football season.
