Eagles defeated by FIU 0-2

After a successful weekend the Georgia Southern University softball team (7-2) lost in the

championship game of the FIU Invitational to Florida International University (8-2) 2-0.

Both teams were unable to drive in a run until the bottom of the fifth when a FIU batter hit one

over the fences giving FIU their first run of the day.

Later in the inning FIU scored off a single for the final score of the afternoon.

Junior catcher Kaitlyn Johnson hit a double and two singles in three at bats. Sophomore infielder

A.J Hamilton also recorded a double on the day.

Senior pitcher Sarah Purvis had a solid performance with seven strikeouts but allowed five hits

and one home run.

The Eagles are on the road next week in the Florida Tournament. Their first game is scheduled

for Friday at 9am against Coastal Carolina University.
