Softball doubles up on Florida Gulf Coast

The success continues for the Georgia Southern University softball team in the FIU

Invitational as they defeated Florida Gulf Coast University first 6-2, then 9-1 in the

first elimination of the tournament.

In game one three Eagle batters had two-hit performances including senior Shelby

Morrill. Junior Breanna Mclendon and sophomore A.J. Hamilton both worked in two

home runs. Senior pitcher Sarah Purvis managed four strikeouts and allowed two

hits.

Game two was more of the same for the Eagles. Seniors Shelby Morrill and

Kourtney Thomas along with freshman Morgan Robertson each hit a ball out of the

park. Junior Brooke Red took the mound for the Eagles and recorded six strikeouts

and only one run.

The Eagles finish up the FIU Invitational tomorrow in the final match of the

invitational. The time and opponent have yet to be determined.
