Streak ends at Eagle Field

The seventh inning spelled doom for the Georgia Southern University softball team in its 5-4 loss to the Furman University Paladins.

Junior pitcher Allie Miles was cruising with a 4-1 lead thanks to RBI hits from sophomore centerfielder Breanna McLendon and sophomore second baseman Lexi Allen in the bottom of the second inning.

In the top of the seventh inning Miles found herself in a bases loaded jam. Freshman catcher A.J Hamilton looked to second on a bunt attempt and it cost her the out at first base.

Furman would use the late momentum to put up four runs and steal the first game of a double header at Eagle Field.

The 5-4 victory for Furman ended a nine game losing streak to GSU and brought the Paladins a small step closer to the Eagles in the Southern Conference standings.
