Senior night inspires Eagles victory

The energy in Hanner Fieldhouse on senior night helped the Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team dominate UNCG at home 67-53.

Senior guards Ronnesha Smith and Meredyth Frye led GSU to victory with some inspired play. Frye scored 26 points and only missed one shot the entire first half.

Smith only scored two points but her defense and hustle created extra possessions for her teammates. The game was not as close as the final score would indicate as the Eagles were up by 18 at halftime.

The ladies shot a blistering 55 percent from the floor in the first half and 47 percent for the game. The win makes GSU 7-21 this season heading into the final regular season game against Elon University on Monday at 7 p.m.
