STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University has cancelled classes on all three campuses for Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4 due to Hurricane Dorian.

In a statement released from the University Alert Center, GS announced that only essential personnel would be allowed on campus and all university-sponsored sponsored events are cancelled.

Students in residence halls were told to shelter in place or find off-campus accommodations.

University dining halls will be open on Tuesday, and to-go meals will be available for students on Tuesday night.

“Access to campus will be limited to essential staff needed to prepare for the storm,” the statement said. “No personnel other than the emergency response personnel should be on any Georgia Southern campus.”

No alterations have been made for scheduled events this Friday, such as the home opening football game against Maine at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
