Six Scary Movies to Watch for Halloween

Georgia Southern University basketball forward, Shawn O’Connell, is a nominee for the Allstate Good Works Team.

The Allstate Insurance Company’s Allstate Good Works Team honors college athletes at all levels for their community service and leadership both on and off the playing field.

O’Connell’s charitable works include:

  • Reading to children at Julia P. Bryant, Sally Zetterower and Langston Hughes schools.
  • Participating in Red Ribbon Week last year and annually at Relay For Life and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.
  • Visiting Boys & Girls Club of Statesboro, the Samuel J. Green Charter School and the Sun Belt Tournament in New Orleans.

In just a few short weeks, everyone will get ready to celebrate the spookiest time of the year. Kids get to go trick or treating, teenagers get to go to a Halloween party and people are carving pumpkins. There are decorations, festivities and memories to be made. An all time favorite activity to do during October is binge-watch horror films, and there are certain movies you shouldn’t miss.

1. Halloween

This classic thriller is a must see during this time of the year. Slasher films are perfect if you’re looking to be scared and this movie is one of the best ways to put you in the Halloween spirit. It will grab your with its constant jump scares and the eerie environment as you try to figure out who the next victim is.

 

2. IT (2017)

Clowns have always been a universal fear amongst people, so IT is the perfect movie to see when you’re looking for a fun way to scare yourself. Pennywise the clown does a fantastic job of tormenting his victims through cryptic humor, intimidation and fear. One of the most unique things about this movie is Pennywise using his victim’s worse fears to torment them.It is a great movie to watch with friends and kick off this holiday.

 

3. The Insidious movies

If you’re someone who is into paranormal activity, these movies are perfect for you. They do a fantastic job of instilling terror and fear into people who have the misfortune of being haunted or possessed. These movies do a great job at creating suspense and horror from beginning to end. The films do not drag t along. It is the perfect way to scare the audience before the spookiest time of the year.


4. Haunting in Connecticut Two

This paranormal movie is the perfect combination of jump scares, suspense and plot twists. You never know what’s going to happen next or where the story going to go. You’ll constantly be on the edge of your seat.

5. Nightmare Before Christmas

If you’re someone who gets scared easily, this would be the perfect movie for you. The animated movie displays  humor, music and a childlike Halloween theme. Despite the title, you’ll still be able to enjoy Halloween without giving yourself a nightmare.

6. The Boy

Many people enjoy movies that portray possession, and this movie shows us the terror and suspense of a young boy being trapped inside a doll. What makes this film so intriguing is the fact that the audience can figure out that the doll is possessed, but some of the characters have yet to figure it out. It’s a great way to scare yourself.

 

Watching scary movies is one of the best ways to celebrate Halloween. Giving yourself an adrenaline rush, catching up on the classics and spending time with your friends is a great way to enjoy Halloween. Don’t be afraid to lounge around in front of the TV and see a ghost, a haunted graveyard or people running for their lives.
