Sow, hoe and grow with Sustain Southern

When you walk past the campus community garden on your way to class, you’ve probably never thought about who keeps it up and running.

The answer might be surprising, you do! Through student fees, sustain southern has not only maintained our campus garden, but also supported many sustainability advances on campus.

Through their sow hoe and grow program, Sustain Southern provides students with the opportunity to cultivate their green thumbs.

Students can grow healthy food, eat healthy food, and learn about the importance of sustainability.

Sustain Southern even has their own grant program that has allocated over a million dollars towards campus sustainability improvements since 2014!

Fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden are provided to eagle dining services. Locally grown food means low transportation costs, reduced fuel use, and reduced emissions.
