Last week Georgia Southern Basketball had a player from both the Men’s and Women’s teams named Sixth Man and Woman of the Year for the Sun Belt Conference.

Senior Guard Elijah McCadden, who averaged 11 points and 2 assists off the bench. “It’s an honor to win the Sixth Man award. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without my teammates and the support from Eagle Nation as well! I’m forever grateful for all of them,” McCadden said about being awarded the honor.

As well as sophomore guard Terren Ward, who was named Freshman of the Year by the Sun Belt last year, as well averaging just under 17 points and 9 rebounds. “To win this award, it means the world to me. I know it may sound cliché, but that’s exactly what it means to me. To be a young, sophomore recognized at such a high level, it’s actually an honor. Being awarded the Sixth Woman of the Year makes me want more for myself in the game of basketball. It makes me eager to improve my game to one day attain the Player of the Year. There’s definitely more of Terren Ward, number 3, to come,” Ward said in response to the conference honor.

Both teams just wrapped up their season in the Sun Belt Conference tournament where both teams won in the first round a first in the Women’s program history.
