The Georgia Southern Women’s Track Team has several talented athletes including fifth-year Senior, Scovia Ayikoru. Scovia has a very interesting story of her own.

Scovia’s Story

  • Moved to the United States from Uganda in 2019.
  • Originally was supposed to run for a club in Sweden, but her father pushed her to come to Georgia Southern.
  • “Running is just something which is in me. My grandmom used to run before, so I just think it’s like a passion.”- Scovia Ayikoru

Scovia’s Impact On and Off the Track

  • Set school record in the 400 with a time of 54.43 at the Samford Open.
  • “Scovia is a true leader and before anything else she leads by example. The ladies see how hard she works and the amount of time she puts in. Even though she has other things and other ventures she’s involved in. When she comes out to this track, she gives 110% every single time.”- Track Coach David Neville.
  • Runs an African-wear clothing business from her Instagram.

What’s Next
