Pennies for Eagles raises $4,218

Getting rid of loose change is easier now with the Pennies for Eagles and it goes to the Eagles for Eagles fund. The Eagles for Eagles fund is sponsored by the Student Government Association and awards scholarships to Georgia Southern students in great financial need.

Pennies for Eagles is put on by Georgia Southern’s greek organizations and encourages campus organizations to raise money. Organizations can also earn spirit points for homecoming this way.

In three days, $4,218.75 was raised by the 12 organizations that participated.

  1. Alpha Omicron Pi and Pi Kappa Alpha raised the most at $990.42.
  2. Kappa Delta came in second with $969.73 raised.
  3. Phi Mu, last year’s winner, got third place with $591.11.
  4. Zeta Tau Alpha raised $574.42.
  5. Alpha Delta Pi and Alpha Phi Alpha raised $523.63.
  6. Kappa Kappa Gamma and Sigma Nu raised $411.50.
  7. Delta Phi Epsilon raised $127.54.
  8. Student Government Association raised $27.60.
  9. Residence Hall Association raised $2.80.

Other homecoming events that raised significant money include the Doo Dah Dance and Step Show which raised $2,700 and the InterFraternity Golf Tournament which raised $2,400. Altogether these events raised $9,323 for the Eagles for Eagles fund.
