Former walk-on and current Georgia Southern University senior linebacker Edwin Jackson has been named to Athlon Sports’ All-Sun Belt Conference third team defense.

After graduating from high school, the Atlanta native tried out for the Eagles and earned his way into the 2011 camp. Ever since then, Jackson’s football journey only excelled. In the last three years, he played in 36 games out of 39. Jackson went above and beyond this past year with 92 total tackles as the Eagle’s top tackler.

The season-ending 26-20 victory against the University of Florida in November will be a game that Jackson will always remember, considering he had a game-high eight solo tackles. Jackson is predicted to be a starting linebacker for the Eagles, who will begin their 2014 season with a road game against N.C. State on August 30.
