The Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team (5-11, SoCon 3-2) defeated Southern Conference opponent University of North Carolina at Greensboro 74-71 to bring its conference record above .500.

Junior guard Anna Claire Knight opened the game with a three pointer to electrify the crowd as the Eagles continued that effort and ended the first half on top 37-27.

The momentum carried through the second half where the Eagles traded points late in the game but pulled away 74-71. Knight finished the game with 24 points and a steal.

“Today was a big deal, so we have to take what we did today and carry it on into Monday’s game,” said senior guard Mimi Dubose.

The win gives GSU momentum as it heads into a long stretch of conference play. The Lady Eagles will tip off this Monday against Elon University at 7pm in Hanner.
