Western Carolina evens the series

Game two of today’s double header saw the Georgia Southern University softball team fall 7-2 to Western Carolina University.

Two singles, a walk, and a passed ball put GSU in 1-0 hole after the first inning. Junior pitcher Allie Miles allowed three earned runs in an inning and a third.

The second inning saw WCU put five runs on the board thanks to a combination of an error, a walk, and some clutch singles.

Sophomore pitcher Brooke Red came on in relief to finish the game, but the Eagles could only muster two runs.

A solo home run in the top of the fourth inning from junior shortstop Kourtny Thomas, and a RBI groundout from senior left fielder Alexa Lewis in the top of the seventh was all the offense GSU could create.

GSU will have a chance to take the series with a victory in game three tomorrow at 1:00p.m.
