Too many points in the paint for Elon University led to a loss for the Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team in its final home game.

GSU went down by a score of 76-65 thanks to 31 points from EU senior forward Kelsey Evans. She spear headed an offensive attack that helped EU score 34 points in the paint compared to just 16 for the Eagles.

Sophomore guard Anna Claire Knight tried to keep GSU in the game with 24 points and nine rebounds, but her effort was not enough.

Freshman forward Maggie Davis and junior forward Danielle Spencer fought hard in the post, but in the end EU was just too big.

EU has six players listed at six feet or taller and tonight that advantage was too much for the Eagles.

GSU will play the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Southern Conference Tournament on March 8 at 11:30 a.m.
