With the SoCon South Division Title within reach, the Georgia Southern University volleyball team won its 11^th straight match with a victory over the Furman University Paladins tonight.

The win made the Eagles 23-6 overall (14-1 SoCon) on the season and moved them one step closer to winning the South Division for the first time since 2003 and for the third time in GSU history.

The Eagles defeated Furman (21-9 overall) in straight sets 25-23, 25-14, and 25-16.

During the first set, Furman was able to hang close until GSU went on a run to get to a set point at 24-20. Then, Furman’s head coach Michelle Young called a timeout and her team responded by making it 24-23. GSU went on to close out the set before things got more interesting.

Early in the second set, GSU sophomore middle blocker Kym Coley earned a yellow card for arguing a call. That was the only warning issued and the rest of the match went on cleanly.

The Eagles won the second and third sets easily with Furman never threatening to take either set.

Senior outside hitters Moriah Bellissimo and Meredith Paskert led the team with 11 kills each. Alexandra Beecher finished the match with 15 digs.

The Eagles will end the regular season at home tomorrow against the Wofford College Terriers.
