Preview: Men’s basketball hits the road looking to keep up winning ways

The men’s basketball team will be hitting the road to take on Coastal Carolina University Thursday while looking to extended their two-game winning streak.

The Eagles saw a successful prior week of play after taking two conference wins, one 75-65 win over South Alabama and another 76-51 win over Troy and will be looking to carry their winning momentum to the Chanticleer’s court in Conway, South Carolina.

The Chants currently hold an overall record of 12-12 while sitting on a conference record of 6-6 and looking at a three-game loss streak.

CCU shows an average of 75.8 points per game while shooting 0.451 percent from the floor and 0.387 percent on three-pointers. Defensively the Chanticleers average 36.5 rebounds and six steals per game.

Zac Cuthbertson is a team leader for the Chants as he’s the only player to play and start in all 24 games so far this season, averaging 18.4 points in 32.5 minutes per game. Cuthbertson shows a 0.48 field goal percentage as well as a 0.36 percentage for three-pointers.

The Eagles have shown an impressive season so far as they’ve shot a team average of 0.50 percent from the floor as well as 0.334 percent on three-pointers. As well as being strong on the offensive side of the ball and averaging 83.4 points a game, defensively they show an average of 36.3 rebounds per game as well as showing a 7.8 game average on steals.

Redshirt-sophomore guard Quan Jackson is one Eagle that’s stepped up this season and shown to be impressive as he averages 15.8 points per game as well as playing 32.2 minutes per game. Jackson shows a 0.727 free-throw percentage and an above aveage three-point percentage of 0.351.

Tip off is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at CCU and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
