Former Georgia Southern defensive end Raymond Johnson III signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on Saturday.

Despite not hearing his name called during the 2021 NFL Draft, Johnson did not have to wait long for his NFL opportunity to arise. Mere minutes after the draft had concluded, Johnson was receiving calls from NFL teams.

In four seasons at GS, Johnson recorded 150 tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, six fumble recoveries, five passes defended and two forced fumbles. In addition, Johnson was a three-time All-Sun Belt first-team selection during his time with the Eagles.

The terms of Johnson’s contract have not yet been released.
