Message from Dean of Students: Campus Carry

Blakeley Bartee

The Dean of Students sent this message regarding Campus Carry to students at approximately 2 p.m. Monday:

“Effective July 1, 2017, the Georgia House Bill 280, commonly referred to as the ‘campus carry’ legislation has been implemented on all University System of Georgia campuses including Georgia Southern University. For more information please visit the USG website for House Bill 280. Also, view information about your current classes by accessing the Campus Carry Information link in the Campus Life tile on your MyGeorgiaSouthern home page.”

The Campus Carry legislation allows students to carry concealed weapons on campus, excluding on-campus child care facilities, faculty and administrative office space and disciplinary meetings.

Governor Deal signed Georgia House Bill 280 into law on May 4 after vetoing a similar bill in 2016.
