The Georgia Southern University volleyball team has been picked second in the annual Southern Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the league office announced yesterday.

Last year’s squad finished 25-7 overall, 15-1 in the SoCon and won the league’s South Division regular-season title.  Three starters and nine letter winners from the squad will return to GSU.

Coley was named all-tournament at the 2012 Southern Conference championships, and Beecher was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team.

First-year head coach Dustin Wood will lead the Eagles to open the 2013 campaign at the Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Ala., Aug. 30. The team’s first home match is against the University of Georgia on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
